PLACE YOUR BC CLASSIC PICKS HERE..

by Post.Time

From PhilB – This is one of the greatest fields of all time. It is hard to pick the order since almost everyone in this race can win. I think Summer Bird and Quality Road will be going head to head down the stretch with Gio Ponti right behind them. The late runs of Zenyatta and Richards kid will make it interesting. I like Richards kid to nip the two leaders at the wire.
1.Richards Kid 2.Summer Bird 3.Quality Road 4.Gio Ponti
It is scary to leave Zenyatta, Enstien and the Euro’s out of the Superfecta. My tickets may all be losers, but it is going to be a great race.

TRAINER STEVE SPECHT

Mine That Bird – Unless God shines down on him like he did in the Kentucky Derby, he doesnt have a shot.

Colonel John – Doesn’t show up for the Big Ones.

Summer Bird – Throw out the two slop races and it doesn’t look like he belongs in here.

Zenyatta – What a perfect way to ruin a perfect horse. No chance.

Twice Over – Couldn’t run with the other two Euro’s Sea The Stars and Rip Van Winkle. No Chance.

Richard’s Kid – This one has a Big Shot.

Gio Ponti – Not buying into his turf record.

Einstein – Solid but he’s too old.

Girolamo – Not picking him to win but his 33.4 freshner got my attention. And he’s alos out of A.P. Indy. He’s got a good chance at the upset.

Rip Van Winkle – Don’t know how he’ll do on synthetics or if he’s even worked on them – the from doesn’t show it – but he’s whipped everyone’s butt, so you have to throw him in.

Regal Ransom – Don’t see it. He’s a toss out.

Quality Road – I’ve always like him. He’s come back from hoof problems and I’m tossing out the two slp races against Summer Bird. I think he’s got a real shot.

Awesome Gem – Doesn’t belong.

Specht’s trifecta box – Richard’s Kid, Rip Van Winkle, Quality Road and Girolamo.

As for tomorrow’s BC Classic, I’m hoping Zenyatta wins it. I know she loves the surface and has always appeared that she’d go the extra 1/8th of a mile. Einstein is always tough and won this year’s Santa Anita Hdcp. so he likes the surface. Summer Bird has been awesome since the Belmont and seems to be really growing into himself. I’ve also read a lot about European star, Rip Van Winkle. Europeans ran very well last year’s BC so I’d have to give him a shot too. I really do think that the race is Zenyatta’s to loose. If she wins it, you can guess what my next painting will be.
Take care Bill.

Well, I gotta go with Zenyatta. Not thrilled about the pace prospects of the race, and I have other concerns. She has never ran against the quality of today’s field, she has never run the distance, the pace might not be quick enough, Mike Smith could screw it up, she could get bumped making her move, the sun could be in her eyes, yada, yada, yada.
Look, I think she is as good a mare as there ever has been. This isn’t the greatest field in BC Classic history, and if she runs her race, she should mow them down. I get it about Beyers. Speed is everything. But she has never lost. We don’t know how fast she can go. I think she runs as fast needed. It’s too bad that Rachel is not here, because I think this race would set up perfectly for her. So with that said, I’m glad she aint. because when Zenyatta wins, she will be voted horse of the year.
The ones I fear in order. 2. Quality Road could be coming up to a corker. He has had excuses in his last few races. Should be none today. He can lay off Ransom and should be in the lead at the head of the stretch. 3. Twice Over. He could be this year’s Raven’s Pass. 4. Summer Bird. I have a feeling he wont like the track. If he does, he will be tough. 5. Mine that Bird. I have read about people who have been hit by lightning twice. Beware as his last work was sensational. 6. Colonel John was making a winning move in his last but had bad racing luck. He’s due.
And the rest. 7. Einstein – guess this field is deeper than I thought. He is a tough old dude and I can’t believe I have him 7th. 8. Richard’s Kid – Most improved over the summer. Look out for Baffert. 9. Rip Van Winkle – just think he will throw in a dud. Somebody has to, right? 10. Girolamo – Never raced this kind. 11. Gio Ponti – Just because someone has to be 11th. 12. Awesome Gem – Will be spending time with Zenyatta for 6 furlongs, just not the most important ones. 13. Regal Ransom – Take them as far as he can – about 6 furlongs.
Thanks so much for all the videos and coverage. You are the best! Have a great day.
