Don’t rule out a Zenyatta-Rachel Alexandra showdown this year just yet.
According to Daily Racing Form’s David Grening, Saturday morning, in an interview on the “Down the Stretch” radio show on Sirius XM radio, Jerry Moss, the owner of Zenyatta, said “there’s a good chance” Zenyatta would leave Southern California to race this year and that he “would very much like” to see his mare face Preakness winner Rachel Alexandra.

Both of this year’s top females roll to impressive victories.
According to Steve Andersen of the Daily Racing Form, Zenyatta’s five opponents tried to keep up with her in Saturday’s $287,000 Vanity Handicap at Hollywood Park. In the end, it was in vain. The final result was the same as Zenyatta’s 10 previous races.

David Grening of the Daily Racing Form reports that Rachel Alexandra’s job in today’s Mother Goose at Belmont Park was made a little easier when Florida Oaks winner Don’t Forget Gil and Hopeful Image were scratched from the race on Saturday morning.
Rachel Alexandra will now face only two fillies in the Grade 1 race.

Rachel Alexandra makes her debut following a short respite and victory in the Preakness Stakes.

According to Steve Andersen of the Daily Racing Form, from his vantage point aboard Allicansayis Wow in the Grade 2 Milady Handicap at Hollywood Park last month, jockey Joe Talamo had a first-hand view of the most fascinating sight in California racing this year. Sonoma County’s Jess Jackson all but came out and said he believes his super filly Rachel Alexandra has clinched Horse of the Year honors.
Jackson, who co-owns the remarkable filly, announced Wednesday that he doesn’t plan on running her in the Breeders’ Cup, preventing a potential matchup with champion mare Zenyatta on the synthetic surface at Santa Anita.
